Forum 2 - Cheer Someone Up

How do you cheer up when you're feeling down and blue?

A great way is to help cheer a friend up. Cheering friends up helps to move the focus from you to someone else and the personalized gift of your time and energy on behalf of someone else will do wonders for lifting your spirits. You and your friend will both benefit; win/win always feels good!

Share with us some of the things that you do to cheer up friends or family members who are distressed, depressed or simply going through a rough patch in life. Use the vocabulary covered in this unit. Elaborate and be specific.

Forum 1 - Eating Well

As you age, eating well – that is, eating low-fat, nutrient-packed foods – becomes even more important. That's because good nutrition can help prevent health problems that are more likely to crop up later in life, like osteoporosis, diabetes, and heart disease. While your need for calories might start to decrease as your metabolism slows down, your vitamin and mineral requirements stay the same or, in some cases, even increase.
You may be reluctant to start exercising, even though you've heard it's one of the healthiest things you can do. Fortunately, you may be able to maintain or at least partly restore endurance, balance, strength and flexibility through everyday physical activities like walking and gardening. Even household chores may improve your health.

Discuss here some lifestyle changes that you would like to make in your life, in terms of nutrition and exercising. Use the vocabulary covered in this unit. Elaborate and be specific.
